How to make diaper cake for baby shower gift

First step

You have to get started with the base. For that you’ll need a pizza tin (but cake decoration stands also do fine here). This will help you shape or support the cake’s base. In that case, you can simply use this base as your primary guide to shape the cake.

Second step

Start rolling the diapers. Pick a diaper first. Then roll it up just in the way you roll a burrito. Roll it tight till the end of the diaper. Now wrap it up with rubber bands. This whole process has to be repeated for another diaper.

Third step

As you’re done with these rolling on the second one, you should put it beside the first one. Now use rubber bands to bundle them up. Here, you can use rubber bands from your first diaper. This will keep your diapers from unrolling or opening up. Carry on with this procedure till you feel that it’s no longer possible to fit diapers in those rubber bands.

Forth step

Finish steps two and three till the end. Make sure that at least 5 to 10 of your diapers are fully rolled up.

Fifth step

Time to work with the bottom layer! On your cake’s base, make a few levels with the diapers. Make sure it has formed an oval cake-like shape. Once you’re done with laying them out in a circular shape, you have to tightly tie that thick ribbon around those. You want to ensure they’re all held intact in their place. When that ribbon is fully tied, you may cut and instantly remove those rubber bands. Now the ribbons are enough to hold those diapers.

Sixth step

Over that first layer, you have to position a firm receiving blanket. This will add the “icing” look to the cake. It also helps to make sure that the following layer stays fully secure and your entire cake doesn’t look like a bundle of diapers anymore. For the following 3 layers, go over the steps from 2 to5. Nevertheless, it all depends on what size of diaper cake you’re planning to make.

Seventh step

Once you’re done with all the layers this cake, it’s time you added in some goodies. Try to remove diapers one by one. This is to make sure that the structure remains solid yet you can insert items like bottles, booties, socks, baby food, diaper rash ointment, or any other thing that may go with it.
